Not many authors can claim to have won an honor as prestigious as the Newbery Award, so when an author wins it more than once, you know he or she is a darn good writer. Five authors have managed to win the award more than once; twice each actually.The five authors who have each won the Newbery Award twice are:
- E.L. Konigsburg
- Joseph Krumgold
- Lois Lowry
- Katherine Paterson
- Elizabeth George Speare
Each of these individuals deserve great respect for accomplishing what they did as writers of children’s literature.
