2010 Newbery Award Winners Announced

The results are in and the honorees and winner for the 2010 Newbery Award have been announced! Without further adieu, I give you this years’ list of classics-in-the-making:

Twice Toward Justice by Phillip M. Hoose

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly

Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin

Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg by Rodman Philbrick

And Rebecca Stead walks away as the Newbery Award Winner for 2010 with her book, When You Reach Me!

I haven’t gotten a chance to get my hands on the Newbery Award honorees or winner for 2010 yet (they’re always checked out at the library!) and I still have a stack of books to get through from years past, but as soon as I can get my hands on these, I will be reading them expectantly and leaving my comments and thoughts here on this blog!

And while I’m at in, here are a list of other books announced as winners in other genres:

* Sibert Medal Winner- Almost Astronauts: 13 Women Who Dared to Dream by Tanya Lee Stone
* Pure Belpre Illustrator Honor- My Abuelita by Tony Johnston
* Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book- Mare’s War by Tanita S. Davis
* Schneider Award for Middle Grades- Anything But Typical by Nora Raleigh Baskin
